Democrats see Tom Suozzi’s special election win on Long Island as an encouraging sign that the strategy can pay off in November. If they think Suozzi has shown the way, they’re sadly mistaken.

Biden is an old, unpopular incumbent whose weaknesses can no longer be hidden and whose best hope of winning a second term is to jail his political opponent, an increasingly elusive contingency.

Wednesday’s showdown between Fake Trump and “Dick Cheney in heels,” to quote Haley’s coethnic nemesis, encapsulated what has been an unusually uneventful primary.
